Helping our clients find a new home whilst they start a new job

When one of our corporate clients relocate an employee we fully understand and appreciate the member of staff to be totally focused, committed and excited about starting their new role in the UK.

On their arrival into the UK we are asked to set up temporary accommodation for them normally a fully serviced accommodation close to where they will permanently live and close to their company’s office.

During their short time in their temporary accommodation, we are tasked with searching and encouraging the employee and sometimes with their spouse/family to view suitable long term rental properties. With high demand and a widespread scarcity of good quality rental properties appointments need to be arranged as soon as properties become available.

Only too often and understandably, we find that the employee places more emphasis behind their new role and the viewings for long term accommodation is often a secondary consideration. When asked to set viewings after 6.00pm on working days or on a Saturday results on the rental property being snapped up by other property seekers. This exasperates the whole relocation process, it could be that the serviced accommodation is too comfortable and its not until the employee realises that their time in this temporary, often financed accommodation is about to come to an end.

Coordinating a move that doesn’t just involve finding a place to rent but frequently involves helping to set up a bank account, renting furniture, finding schools in their chosen area that have school places for the children and even assisting in what and where to buy a suitable car takes time.

Helping an employee settle into a new environment, a new area to live and lifestyle is so crucial to a successful, stress free, seamless relocation the better.

Only too often we have to nurture and sensitively ask that the employee gives us the time to help them on all aspects of their relocation; it is all about obtaining the right work balance at the initial stages of their time in the UK.
